One of the hippest places on the island right now, Ahangama is a small town on the South coast, famed for stilt fishing; a traditional method practised only in this region of Sri Lanka. This coastal stretch has beautiful beaches such as Kathaluwa, Kabalana, and Midigama - all ideal surf spots. So it’s become quite a chilled hangout for tourists (and locals) with lots of cafes, bars and restaurants. Other attractions include traditional crafts like masks and exquisite lace making, as well as several ancient Buddhist temples with unique murals.
